Sweet and Sour Week, please, with extra Pineapple!

I have been meaning to write a blog post about our time at the cottage all weekend but my brain just seems to have frozen over completely when it comes to recounting stories. I put this down to extreme tiredness (more than usual, yes) and also to the fact that we have a big week coming up.

Most importantly, Vianney starts his new job in a couple of days time, beginning with training in Warwick for three days. This job has been a long time coming and is such a blessing; it's slightly surreal to think that he will actually be in the job this time next week. The interview was way back in April and we've known he had the job since May 13th so it has always felt so far off in the distant future. It is exciting to think that Vianney will finally be in a job which really stretches and values him, with the added bonus of being located in Cardiff Bay which can't be bad!

On the flip side, we have had a grey cloud hanging over us all summer (much like the rest of the UK!) in the form of a very strange lump in Vianney's neck. Ever since it appeared back in June it feels as though he has had endless doctors appointments, tests, hospital appointments and most of all, phone calls chasing all of the above! We have been really looked after by God, family and friends with prayer and support, and we both feel that God's kept us pretty peaceful throughout the process up til now, but as time goes on, naturally we begin to get increasingly concerned and, if I'm honest, a touch impatient!

Tomorrow we are due to see the doctor again for the results of the latest blood tests, which we already know aren't good, and then hopefully later in the week we will receive biopsy results. This forms the "sour" element of our sweet and sour week and combined with the anticipation of V's new job, it seems to have left both of us pretty washed out and definitely short of intellect. On a more positive note, we bought a lot of (tinned) pineapple in our last food shop and that kind of sweetness is always guaranteed to make me smile :)
